The Mayan Empire once comprised the entire Yucatan peninsula and beyond. The Maya were an advanced society, with thriving cities... amazingly successful despite some being not near water. On December 21, 2012 the Mayan Calendar will end and some have suggested this day will be the end of the world. Mayan culture was so advanced that some believe they were helped by visitors from other planets. Today, Mayan culture and people are alive and well in the Yucatan, Mexico and neighboring countries. As the Mayan calendar approaches the 13 B'ak'tun we celebrate this civilization with these commemorative notes.
